The Alkari Remnant During the Alkari War, a fleet of Alkari ships disappeared and was never accounted for. This is The Last Fleet that many Alkari tell tales of and believe will one day return to save them from their conquerors. The fleet in question was not actually a full war fleet but rather an exploration fleet with warship support that was searching for ways to bypass the Grand Alliance battle lines and hit them in a soft spot. When [123] fell to a Telian assault, the 3rd Alkari Exploration Fleet was cut off from Alkari space and forced into hiding. Unable to mount the firepower required to break through the Telian fleet, they listened to Telian communications and learned the scope of the war. Finally realizing the Alkari Empire was lost for good, the 3rd Fleet charted a course core-ward and left that area of space. They spent months transitting one warp point after another until they were sure they were far enough away to escape notice. Then they found a habitable world and settled it, calling it New Altair. A hundred years have passed as they've scrapped together a living for themselves and colonized five more planets in the immediate area. Barely managing to keep from losing their technology base, they've had no extra resources to research further. They have however rebuilt a significant fleet and are capable of being a threat to anyone in the region. Of course, they are alone in their section of space and have kept their heads down so they have yet to be noticed by other races. They have the same social values and military doctrine as the Alkari Union. Lots of fighters.
