"Education is Strength"
It provides for the education of the Taurian people, from elementary through university levels. To this end, the Ministry is responsible for maintaining literacy standards throughout the Concordat, appointing and promoting instructors and administrators, and developing new educational and research institutions within the state.
During the Reunification War, many of the largest universities were lost when Star League forces overran the planets they were on. In the years since the Star League fell however, the Concordat has rebuilt its schools to pre-Star League levels and standards. Now boasting six full universities on Taurus, Samantha, Pinard, New Vandenberg, MacLeod's Land, and Euschelus, the Concordat graduates an average of more than forty thousand students annually.
The Concordat also maintains a military academy on every major world for use in training conventional garrison troops and their support troops. For more advanced military training, the TDF has built three large academies across the Concordat. The Ecole Militaire on Taurus provides training for the army, the Naval Institute on New Vandenburg provides training for the navy, and the Concordat Aerospace Flight School on Samantha provides in depth pilot training. Where possible, all teachers are Taurian, though many instructors in the Naval Institute and the Aerospace Flight School are from the Outworlds Alliance.
Each of the three academies can take upwards of five hundred personnel each. Taurian citizens in the many universities and the academies are not charged for their education and training, though a healthy "endowment" to the institution will purchase points for any applicant towards admission. This legal form of bribery allows the institutions to operate at a higher level of effectiveness then otherwise. In addition, people from outside the Concordat are encouraged to take their schooling at the Taurian universities and academies. This helps to generate extra operating capital as they are required to pay.
