Medron Pryde

Born on Atreus in 3032, Medron Pryde grew up with legends of his ancestors Jonas and George Pryde, along with the tale of The Betrayal and murder of his grandfather by the family Marik. The honor of his family history was drilled into him for as long as he remembered along with the honor of finding a worthy master to swear fealty to. He vowed to find just such a master.

His father, Jerom Pryde began design work on a new battlemech that would later be called the Serra-Pryde in honor of his wife, Serra. As the years past Medron would watch his father working on the designs of the 'mech, trying to fix some error or tweak a certain spot that he and his team were working on, and Medron could think of nothing but piloting that 'mech in the future. He excelled in school and qualified for basic military training early, and in 3048 his father began teaching him about 'mechs. How they worked, and how to pilot them. He proved himself to be an average pilot in the sims his father developed, but he had an intuitive feel for the land and how to use it to his advantage. While only fitful, he vowed to train it to his advantage. Because of the design aspects of the Serra-Pryde, Medron learned more about Myomer then anything else, but he got a basic understanding of the rest as well.

When Medron went to a private military academy in 3050, he spent his free time watching (and being a gofer for the techs) as the prototype Serra-Pryde was assembled. Three years went by as he saw the 'mech go together piece by piece while going through a hard mechwarrior program that reinforced his earlier lessons of how to use a 'Mech. He continued to perform average as a pilot, but fine tuned his tactical sense and began learning the skills required to lead other men into battle. So, in 3053 when the Serra-Pryde was completed and ready for testing, he was the one chosen to use it.

It was judged that the best place to test this short-ranged mech was at the dueling circles of Solaris VII and so Medron showed to everyone how good the 'mech was. Ironically, his previous lackluster skills at 'Mech fighting exploded into pure bliss. The Serra-Pryde emulated everything he was so well that he became one with it in battle. Eleven fights, eleven wins. Only the first was even close. No one could stop him, no one could defeat him.

As the months passed, Medron became co-opted into the underground wars between Houses and criminals when one of his new-found friends was killed in a fire-fight. He then used one of his other friends, John O'Mally (a Capellan nationalist) to begin acquiring heavy ordnance to employ in the hidden wars. Finally his research into Thomas Marik begun in the academy paid off when a Marik security force member needed an untraceable method of infiltrating a disloyal nobel's household and called Medron. He agreed, and with John's help blew through the noble's guards with ease until he reached the noble himself.

Holding the noble at gunpoint, Medron was able to give John enough time to get the required information from a nearby computer and then used him as a shield to get back out though the closing web of security guards.

But coming off his mechfights victorious, and his undercover operations bloodied but determined, he became cocky. In his twelfth fight, he took his claw and TSM equipped Serra-Pryde against a Berserker. The last thing he saw was the Berserker's hatchet ripping through the left edge of his cockpit. He lost his left arm and leg to that fight, and never fought on Solaris VII again. Six months of painful rehabilitation later, he returned home to Atreus.

When he returned home in 3054, he was instrumental in destroying a rebellion against Thomas Marik before it could gain momentum and received the title Knight of the Realm in gratitude. He then turned down an offer for membership in the Knights of the Innersphere and, putting his newfound fame to good use, declared the re-establishment of Terra's Pryde and immediately began receiving applications. In the end, the new unit numbered a battalion of mechs, one company of infantry, two light wings of aerospace fighters, and some support dropships.

He fought pirates on the periphery and garrisoned Ueda for Comstar as the years passed and 3057 came to a close. He returned from Ueda to Outreach where he brought Terra's Pryde up to a full two regiments in strength so he could return to Pryde Rock, the world Second Pryde had recently found and claimed after kicking out the pirates holding it.

But before he could make any other decisions about the future of Terra's Pryde, Medron sent a message to Thomas Marik. In it, he formally removed himself from serving Thomas because of his attack on the Commonwealth. It was a hard message to send, but the only decision his conscience would allow.

Then, angered by Hegemony treatment of Second Pryde, Medron agreed to help liberate Lothia from the periphery realm before continuing on to Pryde Rock. The three reinforced regiments of Terra's Pryde accompanied by heavy aerospace support jumped out of Outreach on the way to Lothia.

The liberation was quick and painless, for Terra's Pryde and the Lothian citizenry, but Hegemony high command is still trying to figure out how it happened. And why a full regiment was lost without sending any signals.

Medron then spent 3059 and 3060 helping to make Pryde Rock Industries a reality while First Pryde garrisoned the world from attack. But when the Saint Ives Compact came under attack, Medron instantly led First Pryde to their defense. Unlike most of Terra's Pryde's quick slash and conquer campaigns though, the Saint Ives Invasion was a slow, grinding, slugfest. In fact, the heavy fighting ended up permanently damaging Medron's hearing.

Medron is now back to "simply" running Pryde Rock Industries and has turned over day to day running of First Pryde to one of his trusted subordinates.
