This job uncovered the first crack in Medron Pryde's loyalty to Thomas Marik. Already uncomfortable with Marik's ties with Word of Blake, when he found out from Comstar that Yanak Grishkov (an old family friend and Comstar agent) was beeing held by the reactionary cult on Gibson, Medron agreed to help rescue him.
Jumping in at a pirate point and approaching the planet under full EMCON, the WOB forces had no warning until the dropship hit the atmosphere. Caught by surprise and out of position, only a single light WOB mech lance was in position to contest the rescue. They ran into a company of Pryde infantry armed with AC/20 field guns that cut down half of their number within seconds. Though casualties to the infantry were horrendous, they fought off the rest of the lance, keeping the escape route open long enough for the Comstar forces to rescue their comrade. Within seconds of reboarding, the dropship launched and ran up to full acceleration, fighting off the few aerospace defenders with the fuel to intercept and left the system.
Stung by this raid, planetary security around Gibson has been greatly increased.
