Overview:
Unveiled on December 23rd of 3061, this is the third vehicle of PRI's Second Dirty Dozen. Reports suggest that the engineers had participated in perhaps a little too much celebrating over their full month of vacation time afterwards. In fact, our agents on Pryde Rock found it hard to find any alcohol for some time thereafter.

Like the original, the Puma PR1 is slow, bulky, and armed with a variety of weapons. Featuring more powerful, clan equivalent weaponry, she has "enhanced force projection in terms of range and power" as one engineer commented.

Working off the 005 model, the most popular model of the Puma, we believe she will bypass many of the problems encountered when the Puma was first released. More worrisome, we do not know how many of these are on the field or will be at any time. Like other PRI designs, this vehicle looks identical to the original so our forces will not know what they are facing until they are fired upon.

Capabilities:
Like the original, her strength is in the diversity of weapons she carries. The Starslayer-C Clan equivalent particle cannon in the turret offers the most flexibility and firepower of any weapon on the vehicle. Capable of killing any 'Mech in one shot, this weapon is feared by an warrior meeting the new Puma.

She has extra long-range striking power in her twin Fireswarm-C missile racks on the sides of the tank. Like the original, they are placed in hinged armored doors that open forward, pivot 60 degrees, and allow for missiles to be fired at an angle or directly forward.

They also replaced the Holly short-ranged rack with a Cruncher-C streak system and the older Kriegar Medium Lasers with Farstar-C lasers in the front, giving the Puma more firepower into her forward arc.

PRI engineers labored to keep the more interesting parts of the tank operable in their refit. The large supply of emergency hatches is one example, while the innovative floor hatch is another. Activating the hatch sets off a small charge, blasting a foxhole or escape trench for those trying to leave the tank.

They did not improve her rear protection though, other then the small amount of armor they added to her sides and rear. The same laser and flamer combination known in the original can be seen here, so those who know how to take out a Puma in that way, will still be able to do so.

Finally they replaced the targeting and tracking systems with the Talk & Trac 10. Only the gunner, controlling the particle cannon and the rear-firing weapons, has access to the advanced targeting capabilities luckily[+1 bonus to gunnery at all times and +1 bonus to initiative when leading a unit.], but it does mean he finds it much easier to fire to the rear and forward at the same time. We have to find a way of nullifying this superior system, but we have not heard from the agents we sent to obtain a sample of the technology and we have not had the opportunity to fight our former comrades and salvage it after a victory. Rest assured, it is high on our list of priorities.

Deployment
We believe the Puma is undergoing field testing in Com Guard units, but have been unable to uncover the exact place. This could be yet another dangerous PRI design due to our warriors' inability to distinguish it from its lesser look-a-likes though.
