Overview:
A devestating 'Mech in the hands of a good pilot, the Serra-Pryde is oddly only the third youngest 'Mech produced by Pryde Rock Industries. Well over a decade ago a little-known engineer for the Free World's League named Jerom Pryde led a team of designers to design and propose a 'Mech that would revolutionize warfare.

Taking Triple Strength Myomer, now fixed to work properly, from Davion and jury-rigged claws from Solaris, this 'Mech was to be the most powerful close-in fighter ever made. But the League balked at the price tag of the un-named machine and, because of poor performance against ranged opponents, stalled the developement. Jerom offered to buy the plans of the 'Mech, allowing the League to recoup its losses in developing it, using his family fortune and the government happily agreed to let him have the lemon.

While he was little-known in engineering circles, Jerom's family had long been known in merchant circles and he continued to look around for ways to make the design. Renaming it the Serra-Pryde in honor of his wife, he tweaked the 'Mech, adding several improvements including two just-breaking technologies. The first was a semi turret-like apparatus that ran around the torso of the 'Mech allowing the ER PPC placed into this new version to fire in all directions, while the second was a pair of extremely experimental Streak SRM-6s.

When the prototype had finally been redesigned to the new standard it was 3053 and Jerom's son, Medron, was old enough to leave school and pilot the 'Mech he had watched being built for years. The only 'Mech pilot who knew the machine well enough to use it's full abilities, Medron took the Serra-Pryde to Solaris where he piloted it for a year.

His rapid rise in the arenas of Solaris is a matter of public record, as is the spectacular end of that fame when he met a hatchet backed up by a Berserker head-on. Somehow, the design of the cockpit just managed to slide the hachet away from him though and instead of losing his life he "only" lost his left arm and leg.

It was over two years before the 'Mech saw action again, piloted by the rehabilitated Medron and acting as the command 'Mech of the newly-formed Terra's Pryde mercenary unit. The 'Mech served with distinction, but the bugs in the hardware and software of the ultra high-tech systems were never completely worked out.

It was with relief and sadness in equal measure that Medron took the prototype Thug PR1 to be his new command 'Mech in 3060. The next year saw the 'Mech being taken apart, the semi-turret and missiles systems ripped off by ecstatic techs who remembered tweaking them day in and day out to keep the little buggers working, and being slowly rebuilt.

Perhaps this third version of a very unique design will actually be successful.

Capabilities:
Armed with a mix of Clan-equivalent and standard weaponry manufactured on Pryde Rock, this 'Mech is by far the hardest to build and most expensive 'Mech built by PRI. The Starslayer-C and Fireswarm-C give the design better long-range punch then either of the first two versions, while the mix of Pinpricker-C and Farstar-C laser arrays give her heavy punch up close. Add in the Hessen IX, the Diverse Optics licensed from the League, and Blakenburg laser systems and this 'Mech is one of the hottest running 'Mechs ever made.

It is by no means designed to fire all weapons at once, as it would immediately shut down and most likely blow up in an ammo explosion. The 'Mech was designed with the wide range of weaponry so as to complement the other systems carried by it, namely the Null Signiture System and the Triple Strength Myomer.

The targeting system is programmed to automatically look at the current heat level, the projected heat caused by the movement of the 'Mech, and the target heat level where the TSM works best and choose which mix of weapons will result in that heat level. The pilot's HUD is automatically updated with the choices so a simply pull of the trigger can activate them, though he can easily override the computer's choice with the press of button. This rarely happens as the pilot will most likely wish to pull as much performance out of this machine as he or she can. The computer will automatically compensate its choices depending on whether the Null Signiture System is on or off.

Battle History:
The new Serra-Pryde has yet to be seen in combat, but we have managed to "acquire" a BattleRom from a 'Mech facing it in test trials. Sensors jammed by the Norse Guardian system, the pilot had no idea where they 'Mech was until it sprang out of a cove of trees at 85 kph, heat shimmering off her.

Between the ECM and NSS, the pilot was unable to generate an accurate lock and only hit with a couple weapons before the judges decreed the Serra-Pryde's claw had just ripped through it's armor and destroyed the engine in one blow.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
The only known pilot of the Serra-Pryde is Medron, but the prototype has been tested since he returned from St. Ives. Knowing as we do that he cannot pilot a 'Mech we have tried to infiltrate Terra's Pryde with more operatives but so far all have up in a dumpster that annoyingly has our name on it. We believe they are trying to bait us. The result though is that we do not know who is piloting this 'Mech.

Deployment
The prototype is the only known Serra-Pryde in existance, and extrapolations of the time and money it takes to build this 'Mech suggests it will be years before their are more then a handful of these powerful 'Mechs. We forecast that they will make the Hussar refit look common.

August 15, 3067 Information Update - An operative was able to penetrate Pryde Rock Industries Security long enough to confirm that eleven of these machines have been built, bringing the total number of Serra-Prydes in existance up to an even dozen. A company. Where these 'Mechs are we do not know as the operative was neutralized immediately after reporting this information to us. We request that more resources be applied to find these 'Mechs. They could adversely affect our plans.

August 18, 3067 Information Update - Request for funding has been denied. "Too many current responsibilities." My superiors are fools to believe that Pryde Rock is no risk. Already they try to poison the Marians against us. And their movements in the League are troubling in their single-minded devotion to ending the rule of the Primus-in-Exile. But I have been out here for too long and my superiors see only the future and their grand plan. I lack the power to make them see and now their inability to see threats beyond Comstar and the Great Houses will kill us all. The Periphery is not so much under their thumbs as they believe, and not only over here. I feel it in my bones but I can not prove it. And those bastards will only accept proof. Proof that we may not have time for if my sources are correct. These fools will throw everything away now rather then bide their time a little longer. Perhaps others--- Vocal Log Recording Activity Interrupted.
