Overview:

The Garnison, Norwegian for Garrison, PR-1 is a cheap, light, and fairly mobile weapons platform that can double as a civil works platform on the poorer worlds that will mostly likely be the only ones to buy them. Starting in July of 3063, this 'Mech was the first 'Mech publicly sold by PRI on the open market, and has done little to garner them official notice. Made primarily with old technology, and importing weapons from Free Worlds League suppliers, this is nothing like their cutting edge designs found primarily in Com Guard and Kungsarme hands.

It is marketed alongside their new, and equally lowtech, Deputy BattleMech as complementing 'Mech designs.

Capabilities:

Able to move at nearly 90 kilometers per hour, the Garnison is not fast enough to catch other light 'Mechs, but its three Delta Dart LRM launchers are capable of damaging them heavily. And when 'Mechs close with it, the four Diverse Optics Medium Lasers, two in each arm, can heavily damage any opponent even vaguely within its weight class.

With the freezer heatsinks, one of the Garnison's few dips into advanced technology, she can maintain maximum fire rate with all weapons, and even jump if need be, with minimal heat gain. Unfortunately, she only mounts one tonne of ammunition to share amongst her three launchers, leaving her with barely over a minute of ammunition in such an evironment.

The LRM ammo in the left torso is protected by a CASE system, so an ammunition hit will "only" deprive of her of all of her long range weaponary and half of her short ranged weaponary. Unlike other designs though, the Garnison will at least be able to walk away from such a hit.

Interestingly, most likely in an effort to push the "low-tech" idea and keep their reputation in the lower realms of 'Mech makers, the PRI engineers placed an older version of the Talk & Trac system into this 'Mech. Version 5 has none of the special abilities of the newer versions, but is a decent bare bones system.

Finally, the Garnison mounts hand actuators so she can support in building projects and search and rescue on poorer worlds the require their 'Mechs to perform double duty. PRI advertisements, have emphasized these abilities, further decreasing their public image as a producer of true weapons of war.

Battle History:

August 17, 3067 Information Update - Sources on Circinus have reliably informed me that several Centuries of Garnisons, along with equal numbers of Deputy BattleMechs, from the Seventh Marian Legion were instrumental in defeating Circinus Federation forces and opening up a hole the defenses. The 'Mechs we provided the Marians, while more technologically advanced, were outnumbered by these cheaper 'Mechs.

In the end, the Second Marian Legion broke through the gap the Seventh Legion created and Ceasar Julius O'Rielly personally defeated "Little Bob" McIntyre in 'Mech combat. McIntyre did not survive and what is left of the Circinus Federation will surely crumble now. The plan has not even begun, and already things go against it. Blake help us.

Variants:

The only variant we know of is the original version of this design that has never been produced on Pryde Rock. Called the Garrison by its designer it did not mount lower arm or hand actuaters, and carried Ferro-Fibrous armor instead of standard armor. Slightly more expensive, it also had slightly better armor protection, but could not perform the double duty that PRI has prized in the Garnison.

Deployment

This 'Mech has been primarily marketed and sold in conjunction with the Deputy to other worlds in the Periphery, and of course to the Marian Hegemony.   In the Hegemony, they have been used to cheaply fill many holes in the Legions caused by the Palatinate war and of course make up much of the newer Seventh Legion.
