Overview:

Originally built in mid-3063, the Deputy is a 'Mech relegating itself to mostly lower-level technologies. Built on an endosteel frame and using double heatsinks though, it does prove itself to be an efficient design. Like the Garnison that it is marketed with, the Deputy's weapons are shipped in from other suppliers. The Donal PPCs come from the Taurian Concordat while the Hovertech Streak SRM-4s come from Irian BattleMechs Unlimited in the Free Worlds League.

Like the Garnison, it is a cheap 'Mech that can double in civil functions and is therefore of use on the poorer worlds they are being marketed towards.

Capabilities:

Able to keep up with most old heavy 'Mechs, the Deputy is not a fast 'Mech by any measure. It is however a decent fighting design with enough armor to handle a small amount of damage and enough firepower to scare anything but an assault 'Mech.

Her twin Donal PPCs can be fired at maximum rate while at long ranges without risking overloading the heatsinks, unless the 'Mech jumps. At shorter ranges though, the MechWarrior must decide if he or she wishes to engage the streaks as well, or choose not to fire one of its Donals. On the plus side, if firing all weapons, the streaks will only fire if they are able to maintain a lock, so at least the overheat will have been worth it.

Unfortunately, the ammunition for the streaks is not protected by a case, so a lucky hit to the left leg where they are stored could easily leave the 'Mech with a leg, assuming not many rounds are left. If they bin is full, there will be little left of the 'Mech when the smoke clears.

Like the Garnison, the Deputy carries the old Talk & Trac 5 targeting and communications systems that come nowhere close to matching the technological prowess of their later systems.

Battle History:

August 17, 3067 Information Update - Several Centuries of Deputy BattleMechs were recently reported serving the Seventh Marian Legion during the fighting on Circinus. Along with the Garnisons, they managed to overrun the more advanced 'Mechs we gave the Circinians, allowing the Second Marian Legion to break through and destroy all Federation resistance.

Deployment

The Deputy DPT-Y2, which this version is built from, has been seen on Liberty, once known as Carver V. Also, the DPT-PR1 has been sold to many smaller worlds on the Periphery, as well as of course to the Marian Legions where they have filled in holes throughout the Marian Legions and make up much of their newer Seventh Legion.
