Overview:

         One of the most destructive weapons on the battlefield is the strafing or bombing AeroSpace Fighter. To counteract these attacks, many companies produce some type of antiaircraft system. Two of the most popular are the Rifleman and JagerMech BattleMechs produced by Kallon Industries. These two 'Mechs are powerful AA systems because they can each deliver such a large volume of accurate fire.
         The Partisan was arguably Kallon Industries' most successful anti-air unit ever released. The original design used four long-range autocannon of the same design found on both the Rifleman and the Jager-Mech, providing good firepower with long range to be effective against aircraft.
         During the era of the Clan Invasion they came out with an upgraded design that used recovered Star League technology. It worked well, but the two different kinds of autocannons made maintaining the unit more complicated. During the opening months of the Jihad, the Syrtis Federation ordered a modification made to the design with state-of-the art weapons that would, ironically, simplify that issue. That version of the Partisan has fought well for both Syrtis and Tikonov in the decades since.

Capabilities:

         A quad array of turret-mounted Imperator Code Red LB 5-X autocannons provide the main firepower of the redesigned Partisan. The Code Red guns deliver a lethal barrage of flak that can destroy an attacking fighter's control surfaces and cause it to crash. Aimed by an advanced targeting computer, the flak can be even more accurate than older designs could manage.
         The design's C3 system enables a group of Partisans to produce interlocking fields of fire to simultaneously engage enemy aircraft. Additionally, the system enables each Partisan in a group to engage a target at the optimum range for the entire group. This means that an enemy fighter will fly into a firestorm that will keep him too busy with evasive maneuvers to aim straight.
         The lance-command Partisan features a C3 Master system that enables it to coordinate the fire of up to four Partisans, though two of the cannons are replaced with the smaller LB 2-X cannons. The company-command Partisan features two C3 Master systems that enable it to coordinate the fire of up to twelve Partisans, but replaces the last two cannons with the same LB 2-Xs.
         Both command units carry more ammunition than they can be expected to use, but since all Code Red autocannons use the same ammunition, command units often offload ammunition to keep their other lance and company mates topped off in long engagements.
         All Partisans feature a compact fusion engine and Kallon Unity Weave ferro-fibrous armor to maximize both offensive and defensive capabilities, no matter the price tag those systems may demand.

Deployment

         The Partisan 3 tank is the primary anti-air tank of the Tikonov Republican Guards. They are also very common on worlds in the Syrtis Federation, and can often be seen on worlds that were once a part of that government that are now controlled by the Taurian Concordat or the Capellan Rump States.
