Overview:

The Morningstar was the second joint effort between Ceres Metals on Tikonov and Kathil’s GM facilities. It was originally designed to be a city command vehicle (CCV), capable of leading any urban defense maneuvers in the absence of BattleMechs. In the final years of the FedCom Civil War, it also saw heavy use as an urban assault vehicle, leading offensive maneuvers of tanks and infantry to capture smaller but still-important cities while ’Mechs stormed capitals and production sites.
During the Jihad, the known Morningstar factories became a part of the Syrtis Federation and the design was built as is for decades. When Tikonov fell to the Tikonov Free Republic though, the Ridzik brothers authorized a refit of the design to match their organizational standards and their modern Morningstar was born.

Capabilities:

The Kallon Sure-Shot C3 Master Unit computer is the entire reason for the existence of this tank, allowing it to coordinate a Command/Control/Communications net. This advantage makes incredible use of the Imperator Code Red autocannon, allowing the command vehicle to remain out of heavily pitched fighting while still making its presence felt.
The Morningstar is not designed for extended campaigns, carrying very little ammunition. Its nine tons of Durallex Heavy Special armor with CASE protect a cargo bay that can be configured to carry either a full Tikonov squad of BattleArmor troops or two standard infantry platoons.
Sometimes the infantry bay is filled with holomaps and extra command and control equipment. These "Command Van" units often command a battalion, regiment, or the defenses of a major city, where they can keep track of all friendly and enemy movements.

Deployment

The Morningstar and Chimera OmniMech are the primary lance and company command units in the Tikonov Free Republic. The Morningstar commands most vehicle units, though some BattleMechs units also have Morningstars in their line of battle. They are most common in city defense militias, where their integral infantry assets are the most useful.
