Overview:

The star of Earthwerks’ civilian vehicle range, the Heslod, is a rugged all-terrain utility vehicle. Developed in the Free Worlds League in 3060, the Hesiod is now manufactured by all branches of the company. The turmoil of the FedCom Civil War and the Jihad had a major impact on sales first in Lyran and FedSun space, and then throughout the Human Sphere, but Earthwerks survived and has rebuilt its market share in the quarter-century since.

Capabilities:

Powered by a combustion engine renowned for its ability to run on almost anything, the Heslod is valued for low running costs and reliability. But what really sets it apart from other civilian vehicles is the use of Omni technology derivative from the latest military equipment. A variety of modular agricultural tools allow the Hesiod to replace a host of specialized vehicles. The most commonly used options include a combine unit, a lift hoist, a bulldozer, and a cargo model.

Deployment

Still common in the Federation Expanse due to production from the planet Tikonov, the recent capture of that world by the Tikonov Free Republic has allowed Earthwerks to expand their market. The Ridzik brothers allow the corporation to sell its civilian designs to established customers outside their territory, keeping the existing units up to date with hardware and design upgrades on the standard yearly schedule.
Earthwerks factories in the Free Worlds League and the Capellan Confederation also build the design, keeping those markets supplied with all the Heslods the transporation networks can ship. Interestingly, Capellan pride rarely allows League-manufactured Heslods across the border, and FWL citizens will rarely accept the "inferior" worksmanship of cheap Capellan labor. While Earthwerks maintain that there is absolutely no evidence that the quality assurance system of any of their factories is any less rigorous than any other, they stopped fighting the nationalistic ties even before the Jihad and seem content to stamp their products with "Made in the FWL" or "Made in the Capellan Confederation" in order to maintain sales.
