Overview:

Police cruisers can be seen throughout the Human Sphere. They range from the standard ground or hover car to full-scale, armed police wagons. The Chi-ha CCV belongs in the second category. For over a thousand years, Chi-ha tanks have fought well, but the Succession Wars were not kind to those tanks. Outgunned and armored by Star League tanks, the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery abandoned the Chi-has in favor of those more capable units. Most of the Chi-has ended up in use by the Combine neighborhood police forces, but they were not really designed for that. Still, the police made do with the Chi-ha until the Succession Wars came to an end.
Finally, in the early 3020s, the end of those wars gave the Luthien police the opportunity to order a purpose-built armored police cruiser. They called for both lethal and nonlethal armaments, heavy armor, and the ability to move through the worst urban wastelands without worrying about the Yakuza that infested them. In early 3026, Buda Imperial Vehicles released their answer to the police's call and it was quickly accepted.

Capabilities:

The new Chi-ha CCV features rubberized tracks to keep it from damaging city streets while moving through them. They are reinforced with the hardest metals of course so they can cut through rubble if need be, a feature they have been forced to use often in the decades since their invention.
The Longfire V missile system most often carries flares or smoke rounds, giving them the ability to mount rescue operations at night or to stand against riots. The single Sperry Browning machine gun is usually armed with rubber bullets, but the more dangerous neighborhoods often call for a more lethal weapons load. Four Mizuchi's Breath water cannons surround the armored police cruiser, giving it the capability of spraying liquids in all directions. Most often used to support fire fighting efforts, those water cannons have also been used to break riots up as well.
The Chi-ha has enough StarSlab/3 armor to survive even 'Mech-grade weapons, let alone the weapons that a standard Yakuza or wannabe Yakuza agent has access to. All this armor and weaponary protects what is often considered to be the most advanced mobile police communications and control center in use in the Draconis Rifts.
The police bay is designed to carry every supply that the police may need to bring to use in any situation they can predict. The bay carries unpowered armor and heavy weapons on racks, ready to use at a moment's notice. Food and water rations, along with blankets and other survival gear, stocked on one wall make them a perfect first response vehicle during a natural disaster. A basic first aid station on the rear hatch lets them take care of basic wounds. A communications bank lets them keep track of alerts over an entire metropolitan area and direct police to deal with them at need. Finally, ten secured seats in the middle of the bay can hold a full squad of police troopers for either briefings or to keep them secured during high-speed maneuvers.

Deployment

Shipped throughout the Draconis Combine before the Jihad, the Chi-ha CCV, and numerous no-name knockoffs, is the primary police cruiser of that entire region of space. Often used by special forces, and even infantry units at need, they can be seen in every major city in the Draconis Rifts, and are usually the first responders to any urban emergency.
