Overview:

         Commissioned in the late 3080s, the Archon wanted a ship to support the flagship of the fleet, but also to be able to fly a flag of its own. It also needed to be as fast as the Katherine Steiner, carry as much fuel, and be capable of carrying the largest weapons ever designed, the mass drivers that the Word used on Tharkad and other worlds. The original specifications requested a design under 500 kilotons, but as more and more features were added to the specs, the size of the ship soon ballooned past 600 kilotons and continued to rise. In the end, facing a rapidly expanding cost to build the new ships and needing a new heavy WarShip to protect against Jade Falcon incursions, the Archon stopped developement and ordered the ship produced in its latest workable condition.
         The final ship is surprisingly effective considering the executive decision, and many of her class have been built in the years since. One of the largest ships produced in the Human Sphere, it has impressive armor, a single mass driver, missile batteries to rip apart large ships, and enough smaller weapons to make small craft prefer to stay well back. It also carries four squadrons of fighters into combat, making it an impressive carrier in its own right. Finally, it carries five DropShips through a jump which can vastly increase its ability to project power in the Lyran systems.
         In conclusion, it is a credible heavy cruiser, with a massive main gun, from a nation known for making everything big.
