Overview:

         Commissioned with the larger Zerstörer-class Cruiser, the Schild was meant to protect it and the Katherine Steiner from attack by other WarShips. The first of them came out of the docks with the the Zerstörer, and has escorted the ship ever since, saving it in numerous battles.
         The Schild carries a heavy mass driver and missile battery capability like the Zerstörers, but added the rarely-used screen launcher to its capabilities. Only a handful of nations use them in the Human Sphere as most have considered them a waste of valuable mass that could be devoted to weapons that shoot things, but the Schild has used them effectively. Able to keep enemies from generating and maintaining target locks in battle by erecting clouds of debris between them, the Schilds can effectively reduce the number of enemies in a battle and allow its charges, or itself, to destroy the enemy in detail.
         Though designed to be a support ship, the Schild is used by some navies as a command ship, where it has performed better than expected.
