Overview:

         After the Jihad, the Wolf's Dragoons turned their attention to rebuilding their world and the mercenary trade in the Human Sphere. It was several years before they could begin building anything larger than their Athena frigates, but in the mid-3080s they started the long process of gearing up to expand their naval arm. The Alexander-class cruiser that came out of the process is the grandest mercenary cruiser ever created.
         Heavy armor keeps it safe from anything short of a squadron of WarShips, while its heavy laser armament can kill most WarShips or DropShips in use today. Docking collars surround the ship, allowing it to carry a full eight DropShips through hyperspace and intra-system manuevers, bringing potentially heavy firepower with them. All of the Alexander's weapons systems are laser-based, meaning that carrying ammunition is a minor concern to their crews. Only the anti-missile systems use ammunition, but the twelve thousand ton cargo hold can easily carry spare ammunition for those weapons, or for anything else they need. Some cruisers may have heavier weapons grids, but the Dragoons value the Alexander's ability to stay on contract for extended periods without refueling or taking on consumables.
         There are relatively few Alexanders in service today, the vast majority owned by the Dragoons though some of their most trusted friends also own some. Several Alexanders are known to orbit Outreach, with a squadron of Athenas protecting them, where they often perform routine customs inspections with their small craft and battle armor troops. They can also be seen protecting the other MRBC hiring halls, and some other mercenary holdings also sport one of these ships defending them. The Dragoons do not sell them to anybody else though, and have been known to go to "extreme measures" to remove them from the hands of someone they do not approve of who has managed to "acquire" one. Even Proserpina and the Ozawa-Addicks Mercantile Association have learned that peddling one of them can become very uncomfortable very quickly. Only good friends of the Dragoons can ever safely own one of these ships, and so they have developed a reputation much akin to that enjoyed by the Dragoons themselves.
