The Minotaur is the finest example of ProtoMech engineering ever developed, with the possible exception of the more heavily-armored Delphyne. When the Smoke Jaguars designed it, they meant it to be the most powerful, the most deadly, design that they built, or would ever be built. It had to look fearsome, it had to move fearsomely, and most important it had to be fearsome. They meant it to put the fear of the Clans in anybody who ran into it, and it did precisely that when the New Star League ran into it on Huntress. To this day, four decades later, no more deadly ProtoMech has been designed, and the Minotaur reigns supreme over its cousins in lethality.

The Minotaur sacrifices speed for weaponry. It boasts two extended-range medium lasers--as much firepower as many light BattleMechs.
This impressive hitting power is combined with enough armor to withstand a heavy autocannon attack. Slow-moving but intended for use in a defensive role, the Minotaur performs its function well, especially when an entire Point focuses its attacks on a single target.

The most common of the assault ProtoMechs, the Minotaur is used by the Smoke Jaguars, Clan Snord, the Hell's Horses, Ice Hellions, the Raven Alliance, the Sea Foxes, and even Solaris and the Allied Mercenary Command. Reports suggest that a small number of them have even been purchased by the Taurian Concordat, though no enemy of that realm has yet seem them in their service.
