Overview:
The Hydra was designed by the Smoke Jaguars to fill the role of a medium assault unit. They wanted something that could threaten BattleMechs and BattleArmor alike, while having the armor to take heavy weapons fire and continue fighting. The work resulted in a ProtoMech that is not flashy in any way, but that does its job well enough that it has continued to serve well throughout the decades.

Capabilities:
Its arsenal centers on a 3-tube Streak SRM launcher, giving it significant hitting power with good range. A suprisingly powerful micro pulse laser backs up the missile launcher. The Hydra's only real weaknesses are its moderate speed and lack of jump jets.

Deployment
Fielded by the Smoke Jaguars, the Hell's Horses, and the Steel Vipers, this no-nonsense design continues to be serve well in its intended role.
