Overview:
When the Terran Hegemony first created IndustrialMechs, they wanted to use them in environments too dangerous for standard vehicles, or for uses that a humanoid design was just more capable. The role of firefighter seemed a job made for the IndustrialMechs, and so the FireMechs soon marched across the worlds of the Terran Hegemony.
Fire hoses in each arm allow it to aim at and suppress a fire without the large numbers of men required to man each hose from a standard vehicle. The hoses can fire everything from foam to water stored in the torso, but this storage is not sufficient for a long fire fight. Like standard fire engines, a FireMech carries hoses on it designed to plug into a high pressure fire hydrant. Using this method, a FireMech can gain access to all of the water in a city's reservoir, greatly expanding its fire fighting capability. Firefighters can use the ladder in its right side to enter most buildings on any floor, greatly improving the ability to rescue people trapped in them. Finally, the FireMech carries enough armor to protect itself against accidents. Though pilots are trained to be careful, it is not uncommon for them to slip or fall, and this armor has saved many FireMechs from requiring costly repairs of their internal components.
