         Often called a number of names such as the humvee, puma, warthog, and thousands of other examples, these basic "cars" and "jeeps" have dominated use by militaries throughout the Human Sphere since they entered use in the late 20th century. Designed to carry a handful of soldiers, the original versions were lightly armored but fast. During the Islamic Jihad, they proved incapable of protecting their crews and heavier armor plates were added to make them more resilient. They also saw heavy action during the Second Soviet Civil War, but because of the extra armor, and the weapons they often added, these units often suffered from reduced chassis life due to being overloaded. In the end, heavier versions were created, designed to handle the heavier armor and weapons.
         Used in civilian and military applications alike, these motor vehicles are ubiquitous, with or without weapons. Civilian versions tend to lack the weapons but have more creature comforts, while the military versions often carry a host of weapons on their heavy pintle mounts. They use either four or more wheels or a hover lifting system, allowing them to drive on any civilian road without damaging it as tracked units are known to do. Common modifications make them capable of driving across snow, in (or sometimes even under) water, and sometimes even in true hostile environments up to and including airless environments. They can go anywhere, and are seen everywhere, from small-time farms, to big-time cities, and on military bases from Terra to the farthest depths of the Outer Periphery. They are always needed, always in use, and always in production.
