         The Blue Shot Weapons factory on Solaris VII produced the Lynx BattleMech during the height of the Star League era, and met its full production capacity right up until the facility was destroyed by Marik raiders in 2928. The Lyran Commonwealth lost its Solaris 'Mech repair facility in the same raid. House Steiner spent five years rebuilding the repair facilities, but Blue Shot could not find the financing needed to rebuild their plant from the ground up. The Inner Sphere would wait for more than a century before the next Lynx rolled off the assembly line from Blue Shot's rebuilt Solaris factory in 3056. The start of the Jihad two decades later interrupted production again, but once again Blue Shot Weapons restarted it in 3083 and has kept them rolling off the lines ever since.


         Originally designed as a medium fire-support 'Mech for the SLDF, the Lynx's weapons and engine offer a desirable combination of good speed and hitting power. The Nissan 275 XL engine allows the Lynx to easily keep pace with other medium 'Mechs used by the House militaries. The impressive array of energy weapons the Lynx carries, including the Defiance ER PPC, gives the 'Mech an unlimited supply of devastating firepower. The weapons configuration also produces a tremendous amount of heat, which the Lynx compensates for with double heat sinks. Twelve tons of Durallex Heavy BattleMech armor give the Lynx maximum protection for its weight class and so allows the 'Mech to stay in combat longer. Blue Shot installed the Rawlings 55 jets, which give the 'Mech a jump length of 150 meters, to give the Lynx better mobility and allow the pilot to perform the well-known death-from-above maneuver.


         The standard medium BattleMech of the Solaris Irregulars, Blue Shot Weapons have also marketed the design to member units of the Allied Mercenary Command. Able to fight as long as it has access to water, the Lynx is one of the premiere medium BattleMechs in mercenary service.
