Overview:

         This was the first new-tech design built by Achernar BattleMechs after their relocation to and rebuilding of the Achernar factories. They originally built the old 6M Dervish when they first began production in 3071, but by 3075 the company had secured enough examples of Clan technology to begin limited production of the new 9D Dervish. Achernar envisioned them not for home defense but to sell them to other nations, specifically those engaged in fighting the Word of Blake at Terra.
         Many examples of this are used by the Achernar Corporate Security Force, but otherwise very few are used by the Ozawa-Addicks Mercantile Alliance. The Federated Suns is the largest user of the design, purchasing them for use in the most elite Federated Suns Mercenary Corps units, but many other nations do maintain smaller contracts to purchase them. As such, the 9D Dervish can be seen throughout the Human Sphere.
