Overview:

Clan Cloud Cobra always had an affinity for aerospace weapons, as illustrated by its strong aerospace arm. This affinity inspired Cloud Cobra scientists to create a fully airborne combat suit. Though the final production model of the Sylph possessed only limited flight capabilities, it was nonetheless an impressive design accomplishment, and one for which the Clan is still remembered in the Human Sphere.
While leaving the Home Worlds, both the Diamond Sharks (Now Sea Foxes) and Snow Ravens of the Raven Alliance, brought many samples of this design with them. Both Clans began building the design after contact with the Home Worlds ceased, and after the Jihad Solaris acquired the ability to build them from the Sea Foxes. The scattered nature of these production plants means that no single event will destroy them all, which should keep the Sylph in action for years to come.

Capabilities:

The Sylph achieves flight by means of an advanced propulsion system adapted from standard BattleArmor jump jets. Computer controls divert portions of the jet's main thrust through dozens of directional exhaust ports to obtain stable flight as well as complete VTOL capabilities similar to the LAMs that many compare them to. The result is an incredibly agile and swift BattleArmor design.
To make the suit light enough for sustained flight, the Sylph's designers had to strip away most of the armor found on heavier BattleArmor designs. The suit's weapon load is light as well; the Sylph mounts a single micro-pulse laser as its main armament, backed up by a relatively primitive micro-cluster bomb rack attached to the suit's jump pack.

Deployment

First deployed in early 3060, a few Clans, including the Snow Ravens (now Raven Alliance) and Diamond Sharks (now Sea Foxes), obtained Sylph suits through Trials of Possession. Most Sylphs now active fly for either of these two realms, or for Solaris. Deployment outside those factions is rare because of the high expense of maintaining the unit.
