Overview:

                 The light Flanquer is the standard light BattleArmor of the Fronc Federation. Design actually started on them before the Taurians and Canopians recognized Fronc's independence, and they would have been used against those larger realms had the New Colony Region's demands not been met with understanding. The Flanquer became the first new BattleArmor they produced, and by the time the Jihad started it could be found on every Fronc world, a symbol of Fronc Federation progress.
                 There are four main versions of the Flanquer in service. The second one appeared after the Jihad began, using Word technology. The third and most powerful version appeared after the Blakists destroyed the factories of Detroit and began steamrolling over the Federation. This version proved decisive during the battle for the Federation capital and the last remaining holdouts when FLQ-3s struck from hiding in a desperate war of attrition that in the end went their way. Very few FLQ-3s survived those actions, but they have been in constant production ever since and are now the most common light BattleArmor used by the Federation. The fourth version was designed after the Jihad to work with the massive Char mobile fortresses, and is by far the most feared of the Flanquers, even though it mounts no permanent weapons.

Capabilities:

                 The Flanquers mount heavy armor for a suit of their size, have exceptional speed, and give the Fronc infantry a powerful advantage over standard infantry. Instead of mounting battle claws like many suits, they have simple armored gloves that allow them to carry and use any personal weapon easily, from guns to swords and anything in between.
                 The FLQ-1 and FLQ-2 lack any integral weapons, relying entirely on what the trooper carries in his hands or strapped onto the many carrying hooks. The second version uses Mimetic armor reverse-engineered from Word of Blake wrecks.
                 The FLQ-3 and 4 add heavy BattleMech-scale systems to the mimetic armor, making them far more dangerous. The third version sports a small laser that can punch holes enemy tanks or BattleMechs. Version four however uses a TAG system that can be used to call in weapon strikes from distant weapons emplacements.
                 Flanquers can be fitted with special equipment such as microphones or extra sensors when performing special missions. They have carried several hand guns over the years, but now almost always carry the Mauser assault guns captured from the Word of Blake during the Jihad. The armored suits can carry one in each hand and have proven many times that they are a very dangerous weapon.

Deployment

                 Lacking the advanced armors of the newer suits, the FLQ-1 is rarely seen in line units anymore and is mostly used by militias and law enforcement. The FLQ-2 is the standard scout of the Fronc Federation, while the FLQ-3 is used as a line combatant. The FLQ-4 "Ghosts" work with Char super fortresses or other heavy weapons emplacements, rarely mixing with "common infantry" units.
